Unofficial Google Site About Making Adsense Revenue

How Does Google Make Money?

Everyone knows by now that Google owns the search engine industry.

Nobody can have any sort of online presence without them.  If you think otherwise you are just kidding yourself.  Yahoo and Bing are the runners up and they do not even come close.  The both of them maybe own 20% of the market share.

Have you ever wondered how exactly does Google make its revenue?  What is in it for them?  Having hundreds of millions of people use your search engine is great but what is the point of you cannot monetize that traffic.

The answer is adsense.

Its an advertising program where businesses use can post text or image ads to their websites on either the actual search results when a specific keyword is entered or on related websites.  Every time those links or banners are clicked Google gets a set amount (based on how high that click was bid).  Under the adsense revenue sharing arrangement the website owners are given 30% of that revenue and Google keeps the other 70%.

And, its working great!  There is a reason why this company as of 4/11/2010 has a share price of $566.

This affiliate program, the most popular around the world, is producing some serious money!

Google is making almost 2 billion dollar in revenue every quarter.  That is not a typo.  Not every year, but EVERY QUARTER.  And 97 percent of that money is from adsense.

This has to be one of the most successful adverting program of the century.

What does this have to do with making adsense revenue?

First, it proves the whole program works. It will not make you rich overnight, takes time to build, but it does work.  It would not be producing those kinds of numbers if it did not.

Second,  Google wants its webmasters and advertisers to both do well.  They came out with this heat map years ago and it works.  Most people do not follow it and that’s participating in their demise.  People read a certain way and have very quick attention spans.  Failure to place your ad blocks in a prominent place where they are immediately seen will produce lower CTRs.

Third, I heard a theory that the search engine’s algorithm is set up to limit the amount of commercial websites in the top 10 searches.  Now I know for sure its absolutely true.  Those sites do not increase their bottom line.  Enter in any search and you will see that half of the top 10 results are blogs and article directories (About.com, E-How, Ezine, Hubpages, ArticleBase, Buzzle, ect)  These websites are loaded with adsense and these ads lead to commercial sites.

Forth, the big “G” will stop at noting to protect this income.  They want to keep making this money and will do anything to protect their advertisers at all costs.  DO NOT click or get someone else to click on your ads.  Do not try any scheme or technique that will not result in valid clicks.  Google has become very smart at detecting these plans and will BAN YOU.  —-> Do not think you are smarter than them.  You are definitely not.  That company hires some of the best talent on the planet and from around the world.  In addition to great compensation they offer tons of perks to make the pot even sweeter.  These people will catch you and when they do it is “lights out.”

Hopefully you can get piece of the pie.  There are tons of resources and software to help you.  But, at the end of the day it comes down to hard work.
